Dewey's 24-Hour Readathon - Update #1
My plan is to update this post every hour or so with my progress and answers to surveys and questions.
Hour 0 - Opening Survey!
1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
I am in southern Indiana, right across the river from Louisville, KY
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
I'm looking forward to all of my books, but probably most looking forward to Deadpool and Paper Girls
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
I bought myself a Honey Bun, which I never eat because they're so bad for you. I'm definitely looking forward to that!
4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
I have two cats, Molly and Minnie, named after Harry Potter characters, and both will probably be in my lap today because they love snuggling!
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
This is my first readathon with a blog, so the updating is what I will be doing differently!

T-10 Hours until Take-off!
I'm getting so excited for the Readathon to start, guys. I've got my house (mostly) clean, a breakfast casserole in the fridge, and all the makings of a crock-pot pot roast to be started when I wake up in the morning. My amazing husband will be getting up with me to cook the breakfast casserole and hang out until he leaves to go fishing for the day. All I have left to do is to lay out my TBR pile and head to bed.
My plan tomorrow is to get up at around 7:30 or 7:45, make a cup of coffee, preheat the oven, and snuggle on the couch with a blanket and my first book, Wink Poppy Midnight. I started it a couple of days ago but I haven't had much time to read. I feel like this is a book I will really get into, so it's perfect for starting out tomorrow! Also on my list are a few graphic novels and a couple of James Patterson's BookShots. I've only read one so far, Little Black Dress, and I wasn't a fan; it wasn't at all what I expected it to be and I thought it was a waste of my too-short reading time. I'm hoping what I've picked up for tomorrow will be better.
I'm off to bed, I will see everyone bright and early!

Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon April 2017
For the past 2 years, I've looked forward to the bi-annual Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon. This will be my fourth time participating, and I can't wait for it to begin. I start off my day a little before 8 am, when the Readathon officially starts for my time zone, and I make a cup of coffee and snuggle with a blanket on the couch. I always set my phone alarm for the first 50 minutes of an hour reading, and the last 10 to stretch, grab a snack or drink, and check in on social media. I've found this works out great for me because it gets me up and moving and keeps me connected. This year is really exciting because I'll be updating my progress to my brand new blog!
If you aren't doing a lot on April 29th, I highly suggest participating in this Readathon. The community through blogs, Youtube, Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter, and more is amazing. You'll be surprised at how friendly and helpful everyone is. There is so much going on that there's something for everyone! I personally this year will be updating my blog, checking Twitter and Goodreads, and posting at least a couple of pictures on Instagram. You can follow me at:
My very first blog post!
Hi! I’m Alexa, the proud new owner of the blog LexaReads. I’ve always been an avid reader, and I’ve thought about starting a blog many times before, but it’s never actually happened. Today I’m going to change all of that!
I guess I should tell you a little bit about myself. I’m in my late twenties and I live in the US Midwest. I love to read all sorts of books, but my favorites are YA and fantasy, preferably combined. I am on Goodreads, and I try to update my reading status on it as soon as I finish or start a new book.
My main reason for starting this blog now is for Dewey’s Readathon, taking place next week. In my area, it begins at 8 am on Saturday, April 29 and ends the same time Sunday, April 30. This will be my fourth time participating and I can’t wait!
I’ll be back soon to update on some of my favorite books I’ve read! In the meantime, what is one of your favorite books you’ve read lately?
